Graphite rigid felt can be categorized into two types based on fiber length: long-fiber and short-fiber rigid felt.
Long-fiber rigid felt possesses a certain shape and self-supporting property because it is formed by laminating soft felt impregnated with resin. In contrast, short-fiber rigid felt is made by adding a binder to fractured carbon fibers.
The density of rigid felt is generally higher than that of soft felt, and its surface can be treated in various ways, such as coating with graphite paper, carbon cloth, or carbon/carbon coatings.
Moreover, based on the raw materials of carbon fibers, graphite rigid felt can be classified into pitch-based, PAN-based, and Rayon-based types.
