What Are the Characteristics of Carbon Fiber Composite Material?

Carbon Fiber Composite Material (C/C) are composite materials reinforced by carbon fibers with carbon as matrix. It has excellent mechanical properties, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, good friction properties as well as thermal and electrical conductivity. In addition, carbon/carbon composites have low density, high specific strength, and high specific modulus.

  • Fracture toughness: Carbon/Carbon composites will not suddenly fracture when the force exceeds the creep limit.
  • Superior strength: The strength of carbon/carbon composites increases with temperature.
  • Oxidation resistance: The use of a unique oxidation-resistant coating significantly improves the material’s oxidation resistance.
  • Designability and monolithic molding: Optimizing the molding process can effectively improve the overall mechanical properties of carbon/carbon composites.
  • High temperature resistance: It can be made into integral thin-walled structure with lower heat capacity.

What’s more, their strength will not be reduced by temperature increase, and they are even stronger at high temperatures than at room temperature. C-C composite materials can be widely used as various structural materials in high temperature environments, such as carbon/carbon hot press molds, carbon/carbon fasteners, carbon/carbon springs, and carbon/carbon plates.
